How do I transfer my domain name to Rapid Servers without experiencing any downtime?
To avoid downtime, please follow these procedures:
1) Sign up for a hosting account. Once your account is setup, you will receive an e-mail from us with all relevant information.
2) Upload all of your files to our Web server.
3) After you're done uploading your files, contact your domain name registrar and have your domain name pointed to our DNS servers, these are indicated in your account activation email.
4) Now, be patient. It will take about 48-72 hours for your registrar to update their DNS (the amount of actual time varies by registrar). Once it's updated, your domain name will point to your new website that is hosted with us automatically.
5) If you use e-mail associated with the domain name, we recommend you check mail at both locations (with your previous hosting company and on our mail server). Once you confirm that all e-mail settings and your website are properly pointed to Rapid Servers, go ahead and cancel your account with your previous hosting company. [top]
What are your Primary and Secondary
DNS (Domain Name Servers)?
This depends on which server you are located on. Please consult
your account activation email. [top]
My Domain Name is registered to
my current hosting company, how do I transfer to you?
You don't actually transfer the domain name to us. You will
need to transfer your domain name to an independent domain
name registrar. For example, RegisterFly
and Simply.com
are domain name registrars. Once your domain name has been
transferred to your chosen registrar, log into your account
and point it to our servers using the DNS details provided
in your account activation email.
If you register all your domains this way you can easily
change where your domain points. [top]
What form of payment do you accept?
We accept all major Credit Cards and Verified PayPal users.
[top]
What is the sign-up process?
After completion of your order, we will send you an account
activation e-mail with your login information plus details
of DNS servers, ftp, mysql etc. If you have just registered
a domain name before taking out hosting with us, your account
may not be fully functional until domain name propagation
is complete. This can take up to 72 hours. [top]
What kind of Technical Support do you provide?
We will provide support for all services and features related to your web hosting via a ticket based support system. This can be accessed by logging into the client support/billing area.
Sorry, but we do NOT provide technical support for software or services provided by third parties. [top]
Do you offer a webserver uptime guarantee?
We offer no uptime guarantee as such and feel that while other hosting companies give guarantees, it is still not proof of a reliable, quality service. However, our current cumulative availablity for all servers on the network is 99.991%. [top]
Do you support MS FrontPage Extensions?
Yes. [top]
Do you support
Active Server Pages (ASP) or Cold Fusion?
No. [top]
Do you host international
domain names?
We can host international domain names, however, it is up
to you to contact the NIC of your country and have them point
your domain name to our DNS servers. Please consult your account
activation email. [top]
Do you offer domain
name registration?
No. [top]
Do you have a
reseller program?
No. [top]
Can I host an
adult site?
We do NOT host adult-oriented websites. [top]
Can I access my domain name with
and without the www?
Yes, you will be able to access your domain name with or without
the www. For example, you can access your domain name by going
to "www.yourdomain.com" or "yourdomain.com". [top]
Can I upgrade?
Yes you can. Just e-mail us and let us know what you would
like to change. [top]
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. [top]
How long does
it take to setup my new account?
We aim to have your account setup within
a few hours of your order. However, at busy times this may take up to 24
hours. [top]
How long does it take to get my
domain working?
If you are transferring an existing domain name to Rapid Servers,
it will take 48-72 hours after you make the DNS change with
your registrar. [top]
How do I transfer files to my site?
You can use FTP, FrontPage or any other FTP software to transfer
your files to our servers. [top]
Are there any hidden fees?
There are NO hidden fees. [top]
Will you place any ads on my site?
No, you have full control of your website and will never be
required to put any of our advertisements on it. [top]
Do you offer telnet or shell access?
Yes. [top]
Do your servers run UNIX or Windows
NT?
All of our servers are UNIX-based (RedHat). We do not operate
any servers on the Windows NT platform. [top]
What is your spam and bulk e-mail policy?
We have strict policies against spamming and bulk e-mail. Users who spam via e-mail, newsgroups, etc. are not allowed on our Web servers. If we receive complaints of spamming and bulk e-mail, we will remove you from our network. [top]
What do you consider excessive amounts
of resources?
Please understand that our #1 priority is to keep our servers
in perfect operating condition so they will remain up and
running at all times. A website is considered to be using "excessive amounts of resources" when the website
uses 10% or more of our system resources for 60 seconds or
longer. We reserve the right to suspend any hosting account
that we feel is jeopardising our network. [top]
